Help me? Cortez, more buildings?!?!
Uodate 7/20/25: speak now or forever hold your peace. And shame on anyone that has anything meaningful to say that doesn't say it now.
* yesterday for 30 minutes the realtor that has been valiantly trying to help me establish base camp Jesus in a community, religious and secular, that wants no part of it, sat down with me and we talked.
* IF YOU HAVE A BETTER IDEA YOU HAVE A SACRED DUTY TO SPEAK UP NOW. Well, if you are excited because you see a better way to invest Jesus' funds, of course you won't be able to resist telling me before it's too late. Otherwise...
* by the end of this week unless a better idea with passion behind it comes forward, I expect to make an offer on a vacant .14 acre lot in the southwest corner of the city near the old High school.
* to be urgent mission support.
- A safe place to sleep for someone on an urgent mission. 6pm-6am.
- A safe place to park for someone on an urgent mission. 6:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
- a place for the as yet unseen citizen of Cortez that cannot resist connecting meaningfully as a good neighbor with people otherwise rotting on the street.
- A place for Citizens housed and unhoused to meet on Good Neighbor work missions with modest compensation to those needing it. The laborer is worthy of his keep.
- A place where work needs to be done. Privacy fencing needs to be installed. A modest dwelling or meeting house needs to be built. First and foremost a legal certified bathroom needs to be established. Wait a minute james. Haven't you been pontificating that buildings are not what we need?!? Absolutely!. But the point is not is not buildings, the point is building. More than anything else the people of Cortez that are housed, and unhoused, are dying for Meaningful work. Playing golf is not meaningful work. Singing to God is Not meaningful work. Praying is not meaningful work unless it is for the purpose of getting out and doing meaningful work. Shuffling people through tens of thousands of dollars of publicly funded Services only to rot on the street is not meaningful work. I could go on. Full disclosure, james, the one writing here, is an addict. A lifelong addict. I am addicted to the endorphins and dopamine and saratonin and oxytocin that come from doing meaningful work. And I'm a pusher. Yes, I am a pusher. Every breath I am trying to get others hooked on the same drug that I take, meaningful work, the work of the Good Neighbor. There is no one in Cortez, there is no one in the world, that has a better High than I do, or equal. Every waking breath, higher quality. That's what Jesus was trying to do. Get us hooked on being the good samaritan, the good neighbor. For the irresistible high of it.
Am I being too hasty? Was the Good Samaritan being too hasty? My understanding of God's time is the same understanding that the Good Samaritan seemed to have, not the priest, not the levite, but the good samaritan. He's bleeding now. He's dying now. He needs help now. I need to do it now.
Shame on anyone that doesn't speak up if they have something that they are passionate about, now, before these meager funds are committed.
Update 7/18/2025: Zero interest expressed from anyone in the Cortez community, the system, the churches, the people. Zero. Yes, someone will pay all of the costs associated with protecting a few women from rape, a few people from robbery, while they work to save lives, and no one in Cortez has the slightest interest. The system is working fine. If we can get money to pay our salaries, to fund our typical church City agency nonprofit.... activities, we will gladly monetize the poor. But beyond that, nah.

I would be delighted to see that the problem is me. People don't want to work with me. But they weren't stepping up to these problems before me. And they're not stepping up to these problems around me. Even on a cattle ranch where people like the cattle, cattle die, it happens. As long as we can get our money out.
June 20, 2025. Cortez, We don't need more buildings in cortez. And I'm about to buy one? That's the best use of the funds that Creator entrusts to me every month from Social Security?!?!
We've got plenty of hardware, buildings. We need the "software and services" ramped up by a factor of 10. The people stuff. Not more buildings.
II heard of another Street kin drinking themselves to death the other night. That's three in the last 2 months.
Why? Because we haven't stepped up to competing. When McDonald's is losing customers to some other chain, they don't ignore it, they embrace the need. They figure out how to compete better. We have got to figure out how to compete against drugs and alcohol and hanging out. It can be done. It is being done. We do it in our own lives. We can do this.
Maybe there's a reason that the property I was looking to purchase was taken off the market yesterday morning before my appointment to tour it at 1:30 yesterday afternoon.
ppps. And if like me, you imagine your Creator, by whatever name, or none, if you notice what Satan is causing by crucifying Iran, well, we don't have many moments left to get right with the Lord. And maybe like me, you also find trying to be pleasing to the Lord, infinitely joyful, as badly as I do it, as foolishly as I do.

So James look man, I know you were going to look at a property and got black balled at the last minute.
ReplyDeleteI know how bad you want this, and you want this to succeed. My advice would be to not go getting into bed with another established non profit like the bridge or pinon.
My advice would be to open a non profit yourself. All you need is an LLC and a bank account. Employ a representative of the company that isn't you. Remain distanced from the organization don't associate yourself and your identity with it. That way when another property becomes available you can send your employed representative that no one has ever met or seen in Cortez before, a brand new face, to go and purchase the property on behalf of the organization which effectively removes any chance of getting black balled by the seller under the possibility they've seen you before, read your blog, heard through the grape vine, or whatever reason they might decide to take the property off the market or find another way to indirectly not sell the property to you because they don't agree with your intentions for the property or don't like something you've said.
Play the game back James. You're intelligent enough to
beat them at their own game and this is how you do it.
I don't even have to wish you any good luck because you make your own luck and with that type of plan you don't need any type of luck at all, they'll never even see it coming. Use some misdirection.
